Mary-Cate Saunders is a Marriage and Family Therapist with a Limited Permit (MFT-LP) who earned her Master in Marriage and Family Therapy from Syracuse University. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast and Mass Communications from SUNY Oswego, where she developed strong communication and interpersonal skills that continue to enhance her work with clients.
Mary-Cate is passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s most meaningful and challenging transitions. She specializes in working with couples seeking to strengthen their relationship, improve communication, rebuild trust, and deepen emotional connection. She also has a special interest in supporting individuals and couples experiencing infertility, pregnancy loss, grief, and the emotional complexities of family building.
In addition, Mary-Cate enjoys working with women as they navigate the many life seasons of adulthood, including motherhood, postpartum adjustment, identity shifts, and perimenopause. She provides a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where clients can process life’s changes, regulate their nervous systems, build resilience, and reconnect with themselves and those they love.
Her therapeutic approach is collaborative, systemic, and tailored to each client’s unique needs. She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Bowen Family Systems Theory, Solution-Focused Therapy, Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Somatic Therapy, and The Gottman Method. By incorporating psychoeducation, mindfulness, and body-mind techniques, Mary-Cate helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and physical experiences, empowering them to create meaningful and lasting change.
Throughout her clinical experience, Mary-Cate has worked with couples, families with young children, adolescents, and adults. She believes every client possesses inherent strengths and strives to empower individuals and families to navigate challenges with greater confidence, self-compassion, and connection.
